Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 launched July 22, 2026 — and it's a genuinely new direction for the Fold series. Gone is the tall, narrow book-style inner display. In its place is a wider 4:3 aspect ratio 7.6" screen — shorter and broader, more like a compact tablet and less like a stretched phone. Paired with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy (3nm), dual 50MP cameras, 8K video, and Samsung's deepest Galaxy AI integration yet, it's the most capable Fold ever made.

The 7.6" inner AMOLED uses Samsung's Dynamic LTPO 2X technology — adaptive 1–120Hz for power efficiency, with 3000 nits peak brightness and full HDR10+ support. The 4:3 ratio makes multitasking, split-screen apps, video calls, and document viewing far more natural than earlier tall-and-narrow foldable screens. Anti-reflective coating and Flex Titanium hinge technology ensure smooth, consistent opening at any angle. The 5.5" cover display — protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 — runs its own AMOLED 2X panel at 120Hz with 428ppi for crisp cover-screen use without unfolding.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy (SM8850-1-AD, 3nm) is Qualcomm's latest flagship chip, customised specifically for Samsung. Octa-core CPU (2× Oryon V3 Phoenix L at 4.74GHz + 6× Oryon V3 Phoenix M at 3.62GHz) paired with an Adreno 840 GPU with real-time ray tracing support for gaming. The enhanced NPU powers the full Galaxy AI feature suite. LPDDR5X RAM (12GB or 16GB on the 1TB model) and UFS 4.x storage across all configurations.

The dual camera system uses a 50MP f/1.8 wide on a 1/1.56" sensor with OIS and dual-pixel PDAF, paired with a 50MP f/1.9 ultrawide with 120° FOV and multi-directional PDAF. Video goes up to 8K@30fps and 4K@120fps — with Super HDR, gyro-EIS, and OIS across modes. The new My FanCam feature tracks a subject in existing videos and auto-crops to your preferred aspect ratio. Both the inner and cover 10MP selfie cameras shoot 4K@60fps.

The 4800mAh silicon-carbon battery charges at 45W wired (63% in 30 minutes), 20W wireless, and supports 4.5W reverse wireless charging. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB, NFC, and USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps).
