The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 launched July 22, 2026 — and Samsung delivered on the promise of a genuinely new Flip. At 6.1mm unfolded and 180g, it's the thinnest and lightest Flip Samsung has ever built — 8g lighter than the Z Flip7 and noticeably more pocketable. The restructured hinge closes more completely than any previous Flip, eliminating the residual gap between halves that was a visual signature of the series. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (3nm), it's the most powerful Flip to date — and the first Flip to ship with Android 17 pre-installed.

The 6.9" inner AMOLED (Dynamic LTPO 2X, 1080×2520, 120Hz, 2600 nits, HDR10+) continues the tall 21:9 Flip form factor — immersive for video, effortless one-handed grip. The 4.1" FlexWindow cover screen (Super AMOLED, 120Hz, 342ppi) is the real story — larger and smarter than before, running Galaxy AI features directly on the cover: Live Translate for conversations, Transcript Assist, Chat Assist, and AI-powered widgets without ever opening the phone.
The camera system is meaningfully upgraded: a 50MP f/1.8 wide sensor (1/1.57", OIS, dual-pixel PDAF) shoots sharp, detailed photos in daylight and low light, with 4K video up to 60fps and HDR10+ support. A 12MP 123° ultrawide (f/2.2) handles group shots and architecture. The 10MP front camera shoots 4K@60fps. FlexCam mode lets you prop the Flip at any angle and shoot hands-free — with the cover screen as a viewfinder for selfies using the rear cameras.
The 4300mAh silicon-carbon battery charges at 25W wired (55% in 30 minutes), 15W wireless, and supports 4.5W reverse wireless charging for earbuds. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5's 35% CPU efficiency improvement over the prior gen means more runtime from the same capacity. Wi-Fi 7 tri-band, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and USB-C 3.2 complete the connectivity suite. Note: no UWB on the Flip8 — that's Fold8/Ultra exclusive.
