The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE 5G — released October 5, 2023 — is Samsung's Fan Edition flagship: the same flat-screen aluminum frame and camera design language as the Galaxy S23, with the most popular flagship features kept intact. This more-affordable alternative to the S23 flagship keeps most of its most popular features, including triple rear cameras with tele and wide, IP68 water rating, wireless charging, a high-end processor, 8GB of RAM, and fast display refresh. Where it differs from the S23: a larger 6.4" display (vs 6.1"), a larger 4500mAh battery (vs 3900mAh), and a 50MP main camera (vs 12MP) — making it a meaningful camera and battery upgrade over the standard S23 at a lower price.
The 50MP f/1.8 main camera with OIS and Dual Pixel PDAF is the headline camera upgrade — a significant jump from the 12MP cameras in previous FE models. The Galaxy S23 FE now offers a 50MP main camera compared to previous FE devices offering a 12MP shooter. The ultrawide is a 12MP f/2.2 and the telephoto is an 8MP f/2.4 3x optical zoom lens. Video goes up to 8K@24fps and includes Pro video mode, Director's View, and 1080p@240fps slow motion. The front camera is 10MP f/2.4.
The 6.4" Dynamic AMOLED 2X display (1080×2340, 120Hz adaptive, 1450 nits peak, HDR10+, Gorilla Glass 5) is one of the best screens in this price range — bright enough for outdoor visibility and smooth for scrolling, gaming, and video. The Exynos 2200 (4nm, with Xclipse 920 AMD RDNA2 GPU) handles everyday tasks, gaming, and AI camera features reliably. Samsung DeX turns the phone into a desktop-class computer when connected to a monitor via USB-C or wirelessly — a rare feature at this price point.
The 4500mAh battery charges at 25W wired (50% in 30 minutes) and 15W wireless — note that the 25W adapter is not included in the box and must be purchased separately. Reverse wireless charging for topping up accessories. IP68 rated to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes. NFC for Samsung Pay and contactless payments. Under-display optical fingerprint sensor. Stereo speakers. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3. Four guaranteed major Android OS upgrades from Android 13 — support through Android 17. Dual Nano-SIM + eSIM. 158×76.5×8.2mm · 209g. Available in Graphite (128GB) at Dream Technologies T&T.
