HP 14-CA003CL Chromebook 14"

The HP Chromebook 14-CA003CL is a 2018/2019-era Chromebook with a spec set that still holds up for light use — a genuine 14" Full HD IPS display (1920×1080, anti-glare, wide viewing angles), 2× USB-C ports, and 2× USB-A ports in a slim, lightweight chassis. It runs ChromeOS and the device itself is fully functional. The important caveat to understand before buying: ChromeOS Auto Update support ended in June 2024 — Google no longer issues security updates or browser updates for this model.

What this means in practice: the laptop still boots and runs Chrome, Google Drive, YouTube, Gmail, and Android apps that are already installed — but the version of Chrome and ChromeOS on the device is frozen at the last supported build. New Chrome extensions and websites that require an up-to-date browser may not work correctly over time. For security-sensitive tasks like online banking, a Chromebook past its AUE is not recommended. For a child's laptop, a media device, light document work, or a secondary shared machine, it remains functional at an attractive price.

The 14" IPS display is a genuine strength — IPS gives wider viewing angles and better colour accuracy than TN panels common on budget Chromebooks, making it comfortable for video, photos, and shared viewing. The Intel Celeron N3350 (2 cores, up to 2.4GHz, Apollo Lake) is an older chip but ChromeOS's lightweight design means it still handles basic browsing, streaming, and document editing without frustration.

2× USB-C (both support charging) and 2× USB-A 3.0 give flexible peripheral connectivity. MicroSD card reader for storage expansion. Note: no HDMI port — use a USB-C to HDMI adapter for external displays. Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 4.2. 720p webcam. Slim lightweight chassis in Chalkboard Gray.
