Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 — announced July 22, 2026 and released August 7, 2026 — is Samsung's most capable smartwatch ever. It builds on the Galaxy Watch Ultra's rugged luxury foundation with four major upgrades: a Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset (3nm, 30% faster CPU, 20% faster GPU), an 800mAh battery (35% larger than the previous Ultra's 590mAh), the world's brightest smartwatch display at 5,000 nits (up from 3,000 nits), and EN13319 diving certification — the first Galaxy Watch to meet the international standard for diving instruments. It is also the first Galaxy Watch to support fast charging — reaching 40% in approximately 30 minutes.

The 1.52" Super AMOLED display (498×498) at 5,000 nits peak brightness is the brightest display ever on any smartwatch — surpassing even the Apple Watch Ultra 3's 3,000-nit screen. Stats, pace, and navigation remain fully readable in direct sunlight and underwater. The titanium cushion design is thinner than the previous Ultra despite the larger battery — a feat made possible by the more power-efficient Snapdragon Wear Elite chip. The orange Quick Button remains the hallmark of the Ultra line — tactile and visible even with gloves on, triggering customisable actions with a press or hold.

The EN13319 certification means the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 meets the internationally recognised standard for dive instruments — not just water-resistance. Combined with 10 ATM (40 metres depth) and IP69K (resistant to high-pressure, high-temperature water jets), it supports recreational scuba diving with the Depth app showing real-time depth, elapsed dive time, and water temperature. The Mares dive app (downloadable) extends this further for more advanced divers.

Trail running support includes GPX route navigation with turn-by-turn guidance, Climb Guidance (gradient and elevation ahead of each segment), Water Intake Alarm for hydration reminders, and Race Yourself to compete against your own previous records. Dual-band GPS (L1+L5) runs for up to 20 hours. For cyclists, the Watch Ultra 2 is the only Galaxy Watch that pairs directly with power meters, speed sensors, and cadence sensors without the phone as intermediary — and calculates FTP from a connected power meter on the wrist.

Health sensors include ECG, FDA-cleared sleep apnea detection, Blood Pressure Trend (morning estimates, calibration with a BP cuff required), AGEs (Antioxidant Index), Heart Health Score, Energy Score (daily readiness via Galaxy AI), Sleep Coaching (sleep type + 3–4 week programme), body composition via BIA, SpO2, skin temperature, and more. The Safety Siren emits an 86dB alarm audible to 180 metres when the Quick Button is held for 5 seconds. Fall Detection and Emergency SOS (5 presses of the home button) are built in.
